The Aurora Fox Announces Combined Auditions for Metamorphoses by Mary Zimmerman and Washington Irving’s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow adapted by Christopher Cook

Aurora, CO – The Aurora Fox will be holding combined auditions for Metamorphoses (directed by Geoffrey Kent) and Washington Irving’s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow (directed by Charles Packard) on Tuesday May 6^th and Wednesday May 7th, 2013 from 6:00pm‐9:30pm. The Aurora Fox is a leader in non‐traditional casting. Actors of all ethnicities, body types and physical abilities will be considered for all roles. Members of Actors Equity Association will be considered for any roles with at least 2 contracts available in Metamorphoses and at least 3 roles available in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Metamorphoses is comprised of nine inter‐related tales based on ancient Greek and Roman mythology, each enacted in and around a large pool of water. Using contemporary language and familiar characters, such as King Midas and his golden touch and Orpheus and Eurydice in the underworld, the play explores the inevitability of change of the transformative powers of love. The ensemble for Metamorphoses includes 4 men and 2 women ages 18 to 65. Specific role breakup will be determined by the makeup of the final ensemble. Partial nudity may be required from some actors in performance.

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is a traditional telling of Washington’s classic ghost story. In a snug rural valley near Tarrytown, a romantic rivalry brews between a bumbling schoolteacher and a local tough, culminating in a terrifying midnight ride.

All actors will play male soldiers in the prologue battle.

Please prepare a 1‐minute comedic contemporary monologue and a 1‐minute classical dramatic monologue. Also, please have knowledge of the scripts. Copies are available for 1 day loan at the Aurora Fox 9am‐4pm M‐F or during performances.

Metamorphoses rehearsals begin July 22, 2013. Performances are August 16‐September 22, 2013 in the Aurora Fox Studio Theatre.

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow rehearsals begin on September 9, and performances run October 4‐November 3, 2013. All auditions are by appointment only. To schedule an audition appointment, actors should call (303)739‐1970.
